Rathi is an Indian cattle breed. It originated in the district of Bikaner, Ganganagar, and Hanumangarh in the state of Rajasthan. It is a significant Indian multi-purpose cattle breed that excels at both milking and draughting. Rathi, a draught breed, and Rath, a pure milk-producing variant, are the two varieties of cattle that are identified locally. The Rath variant was domesticated by the Rath tribe in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. Rath is distinguished by its fair skin with black or grey streaks, while Rathi is typically brown in color.

Rathi Cow Facts

Rathi cattle are moderate in size with white spots all over their bodies and normally have a brownish appearance of skin. They can also be seen with an absolute black or brown coat with white spots. Their horns are medium lengthwise and curve to the sides and slightly upward and inward. Their face is wide and moderately dished between the eyes. The tail length is long and a fine, flexible dewlap.

Rathi Cow Milk Production

The Rathi breed is a significant milestone in Indian cow history. Every day, this cow produces 7-10 liters of milk. It has been reported that it can produce up to 15 liters of milk. Bulls of the Rathi breed are diligent workers. Additionally, bulls of this breed work for ten hours straight in extreme heat. They are capable of pulling a great deal of weight in the desert.

Rathi cows weigh around 280-300 kg, while bulls weigh around 350-400 kg. Rathi looks great in animal skin that is a combination of brown and white or black and white.

Rathi Cow Origin

The Rathi cow is the bread and butter of Thar farmers; it has been proven to be an effective breed for Rathi and other milk breeds in this area. It was thought that the name came from a nomad cowboy named Rath. The Rathi breed is currently being transmitted primarily in the Rajasthan districts of Bikaner, Shree Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, and Churu. 

It has been adopted by the region's progressive farmers because it is a straightforward, calm, and attractive-looking breed. Rathi cow milk is a balanced diet for someone born in the desert's harsh conditions. Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan are all places where you can find them.
