Reed fish have many other types and they also have many other names. Rope fish is one of their famous names. These fishes are mostly found in rivers. These reed fishes are available in the countries of Central and West Africa like Cameroon and Nigeria. These fishes are mostly known as the African reed fish because they originated from Africa. These reed fishes are large and their size may vary from 35 cm to 37 cm. These fishes are slow-moving species found in the water. They live in both freshwater and brackish water. These fishes move like a snake and may be confused for a snake sometimes. 

Reedfish Size 

The breeding of these fishes is not difficult but mostly these fishes do not breed in the home aquarium. They require aquarium plants for better breeding. If you provide them water with a minimum warm temperature, they can not breed in it as well. If you provide them with a planted aquarium, make sure the plants in the aquarium are long. When you see the male and female fish are very close to each other, you should leave them alone. After a short time, keep checking them in the aquarium. If the female fish lays eggs, it is time to separate the parent fish by putting them in a separate tank.

Reedfish Care 

Care is very important in the life of every living organism. The care of these reed fishes is not difficult for anyone. People love to take care of these fishes. These fishes like to live in freshwater or brackish water and they also live a longer lifespan in these waters. If you take them to home aquariums, you should check their tank water daily. They do not live in dirty water for a long time. If you do not take good care of them they will die soon. If you do not know about their care you can hire a man who knows everything about their care.

Reedfish Tank Size

These fishes are large and require a large tank to live. They also require a lot of water to live a longer lifespan. These fishes require a maximum level of water and it may vary from 40 gallons to 50 gallons. These gallons of water are enough for a single reed fish. A couple of these reed fishes require more water than the single one. They require 60 gallons to 70 gallons of water to live. If you want to take them to a home aquarium you should make a very large tank at home for all of them. 

Reedfish Tank Mates

These reed fishes are large and demand to live with other large fishes who look like all of them. They also feel comfortable with small fish but not for a long time. They are easily adjustable and mostly enjoy their own company or with other reed fishe groups. They love to play with each other but mostly live and love to play alone. When they are alone they stay peaceful, happy, and fit. You should also take good care of their health and diet. They also play with small fish but as usual not for a long time. Sometimes they eat small fishes instead of food.
