Tiger shovelnose catfish, as the name indicates, is a fish and their appearance is like a tiger. These Tiger shovelnose catfish are interesting, and they originated from South America. These Tiger shovelnose catfishes are found in the deepest areas of the rivers, seas, and oceans. They have wide stripes on their body that look like a tiger. They have a wide-length mouth as well. These fishes are very large. If you measure these fishes from the head to the tail they may vary from 2 feet to 3 feet. They also live a longer lifespan.

The breeding of these fishes is not very easy. Everyone does not succeed in the breeding of these Tiger shovelnose catfishes. It would help if you took a pair of these fishes and put them in a very large tank. It would help if you left them alone for a long time because these fish require some time for breeding. The female fish do not eat their eggs. Both parent fishes protect their eggs after they hatch in the aquarium.

If you do not take good care of these fishes, they will die soon. That is why you should change their tank water daily and make sure it is purified from any chemical or bacteria. They can easily live in fresh and brackish water that does not affect their health. These Tiger shovelnose catfishes live a longer lifespan in the freshwater. 

Tiger Shovelnose Catfish Tank Size

The Tiger shovelnose catfishes are large in size, and they like to live in large tanks because they can not easily swim in the small tank. These fishes feel comfortable in the large tank, and they also require a large amount of water to live. The measurements of water may vary from 180 gallons to 200 gallons, but these measurements are enough for a small pair of these fishes. For an adult pair of these fishes, 200 to 250 gallons of water is enough. Sometimes these Tiger shovelnose catfishes require more than these measurements of water. 

Tiger Shovelnose Catfish Tank Mates

The Tiger shovelnose catfishes are medium to large, but they love to play with the large fishes that live in the deepest areas of the rivers and seas. They love to live with large fish, but sometimes they eat small fish instead of food. These Tiger shovelnose catfishes spend more time with the large fishes who look like them. When they play with their companion fishes in the tank, they feel happy and fresh.
