This is small, fresh-water tropical catfish, commonly known as a bronze cory or a green cory, is among the most popular catfish kept in fresh-water aquariums at home. These fish are hardy and easy to care for, however, they are a little shy.

All Corys have extremely sharp fin spines, and when agitated or stressed, some of them release a low-level harmful toxin into the water. This toxin is thought to be very slightly irritating to humans and only when the person stresses the Cory with his or her naked hands and stung.

Cory catfish are little, tranquil bottom-dwelling scavengers who are adored by their owners. Almost all Cory species should be housed in schools; cases of lonely Corys pining away from solitude are widespread. Corys should be housed with only tiny to moderate size peaceful fish.

Bronze Corydoras Diet

Corys eat mostly tiny crustaceans, worms, and insects in the wild. Bronze Corys are omnivores, eating anything from flake to frozen foods. To keep them in excellent health, a range of foodstuffs should be provided, including their preferred live foods, such as bloodworms, blackworms, daphnia, and brine shrimp.

Bronze Corydoras Tank size

They thrive in groups and their behavior alters dramatically when you add other fish of these species to your aquarium. To achieve this, a group of 6-7 Cory Catfish in a 10-gallon tank is highly suggested.

Bronze Corydoras Temperature

A pH of 7.0 to 8.0, an alkalinity of 3 to 10 degrees dKH (54ppm to 180ppm), and a temperature of 74 to 80 ℉ are optimal settings for the majority of captive-bred Cory catfish.

As long as the temperature does not exceed 26 degrees Celsius for a longer period (e.g. six months), the fish will tolerate slightly warmer water for a while. It's completely fine for Corydoras to be kept at 24ºc, and it is not a problem. While a pH of 8.3 is acceptable for captive-bred Corydoras, wild-caught fish require a pH of 7.0 or slightly less.

Bronze Corydoras Lifespan and Size

Males grow to a height of 6-7 cm, while females grow to a height of 7 cm. Due to their greater belly region, females have a slightly taller body frame than males. They have 10 years of average life span. 

Bronze Corydoras Breeding

If you're a fast breeder and want to increase your corydoras population as soon as possible, you'll be relieved to learn that they're really simple to breed. You could obtain as many as 15-20 healthy fish from a single spawning session.

Bronze Corys are relatively easy to breed. Buying a half dozen or more young creatures at once ensures that at least 1 - 2 breeding pairs are available. Males and females are normally easier to distinguish since males are smaller and slenderer than females, especially when viewed from above.
